Hi guys,
I am super-excited about the upcoming release of my new book, A Dad’s Guide to Spare Time, imminently available on Amazon Kindle and paperback!
I am sure that as a dad, spare time is really difficult for you to come by. I know that ever since my Victoria was born, I have craved for my spare time like nothing else.
Once I became a father, I tested and trialed many different time management strategies to see what works. Over time I managed to crack the code of how to build up a self-replenishing bank of spare time and, well, I wrote a book about it!
This book is different than most time management books and strategies.
First of all, it’s tailored to dads like you and me. I used every technique in this book to scrape together the time required to write it in between the busy task of being a husband and father.
Second of all, there’s no ninja scheduling moves, stopwatches, or frantic time-keeping involved. Rather, Spare Time focuses on building systems and habits to automatically spin off spare time.
Lastly, what to do with your spare time is just as important as recovering your spare time. That gets covered in the extra-fun last chapters.
I want to share with you the very last chapter of Spare Time because I think it encapsulates all of the frustrations and hopes that I had in trying to recover my own spare time to do the things I love: spending time with my wife, watching my daughter grow up before my eyes, and writing great content for dads like yourself.
So, without further ado, here’s the very last chapter of A Dad’s Guide to Spare Time. I hope you enjoy!
There’s an irresistible bonus offer at the end of this post, so make sure you get to the very end! 🙂
An Excerpt from A Dad’s Guide to Spare Time, soon to be released on Amazon Kindle and Paperback
At this point in your life I hope you have realized, as I have, that time is the most precious resource that we have. Time is the primordial fuel of our existence. The more time that you can devote to the people and things that you deem most important, the more likely you will be satisfied with your life. It’s just one of those things that fatherhood makes you more keenly aware of.
Once your time is gone, it is gone. So many people in the world waste their incredibly valuable time binging on video games, watching hours of TV in one sitting, in line for random free shit, and on general inefficiencies with the way they go about their business. It is a daily tragedy that repeats itself every day and around the world. This waste of time is actually a waste of life. Time is truly life.
We humans need spare time like we need oxygen. Without spare time, there is no opportunity to build our lives into something more meaningful, with more purpose, with more freedom, and yes, even more love and happiness. Spare time is the necessary fuel for any self-actualization in your life.
Spare time is fundamental for the most important activity that you can accomplish: building. Building yourself up as a man, building financial security, building your legacy, and most important of all building your relationships with those you hold closest to your warm-blooded man heart.
This is not just a book about finding more spare time—it is a book on how best to use the time that you have to make life awesome. Every chapter in this book is a wake-up call to change a small something in your life, to do things in just a slightly better way. These small changes allocate slivers of spare time towards more useful activities, with the slivers accumulating into larger pieces, until your life becomes far more fulfilling than you foresaw just a little while before.
After I became a new father, I was pretty much forced to develop and use every single one of the tactics in this book. It has changed my life. The principles in A Dad’s Guide to Spare Time continues to change my world in amazing ways. By creating spare time in my life, I have the freedom to spend time with my kid and my wife, to read, to educate myself, to build my self-publishing business, to write my books, develop my blog, improve my finances, and enhance my career. The stuff in this book really works—this book exists only because I used all of these tactics to create the spare time I needed to focus on my writing. I have an exciting and positive vision for how things will go in the next year, and I am confident that I will have a shot to make things work because I am winning my war against the forces that seek to rob me of my spare time.
It is my fervent wish that you find this book useful in reclaiming your spare time. The way we live today does not help us out at all—we’re all just way too busy. Modern day life is exhausting and hectic; however, I hope that I have shown you in this book that it is possible to back away from the edge of chaos enough to restore a considerable amount of breathing room in the form of spare time.
I think about this book as a time machine where I am yelling at my twenty-five year old former self. Back then in my youth, time was in abundance and I treated it far too frivolously. I learned much later in life that time cannot be rewound. It is the constant that weaves itself through all of humanity—time bleeds away from our lives in a steady trickle, only becoming apparent when life’s circumstances take a turn for the tragic or unexpected. I have had several wake-up calls in the past alerting me to the danger of ignoring the passage of time, with the greatest wake-up call the birth of my daughter. Since then I have striven to wring as much life satisfaction as possible out of every second of every day of every year.
Don’t be my blithely ignorant twenty-five year old self. Your time machine is right here in the pages of this book. The words that you are reading are the wake-up call to a better life. A life where each and every passing second is used and cherished to the max. Start right here, right now.

‘Till next time,

Anthony Kim
